Project NOAH (Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards) conducted the fourth installment of its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) workshop series last September 21, 2015. The event was attended by 42 individuals, some of whom were students, professionals, and international participants representing various organizations and institutions.

The participants came from different local government units (LGUs), public and private institutions, media organizations, and international humanitarian organizations that were eager for greater insights, and understanding of how to use the NOAH tools and products.

A group of professors from the San Pedro College of Business Administration (SPCBA) came all the way from Laguna to attend the said seminar.

“We will recommend this to our NSTP instructors. They need this kind of workshop more so they could disseminate it to the students [taking the subject],” says Professor Alan Garcia of SPCBA. He added that because their school and community as a whole are in a lake-side area, they need to know more of the hazards and impending threats that may take place in their locality. Also, since SPCBA specializes in IT-engineering, he said that they have learned a lot from the system being used and implemented by NOAH. He even added that maybe they can develop a system similar or close to Project NOAH for their students’ further studies.

LGU attendees included participants from the Municipality of Candelaria in Quezon and City of Alaminos in Pangasinan.
